Pending Tasks
Day #17: 100 Happy Days
I often have days in my life where I do not get as much free space in the day as I anticipate. That does lead to procrastination of certain small tasks that all pile up, leading to lesser space in the future days as well. Vicious cycle, you see. This cycle becomes a recipe for disaster, but, what to do — it isn’t easy to stay productive all the time! This is also a result of my lack of decision making abilities and inability to prioritize well.
Some days are good, and some days make me feel like a hamster running on a wheel for a carrot. Today was probably one of those good days where I was relishing the carrot with a break and running on my schedule as opposed to any one else. That, too, because I decided to clear off my long-pending to do list.
So, how did I do it?
- Pursued my morning rituals. They are important to me — morning pages, gratitude journaling, meditation, and yoga.
- Started my day with a clear intention, able to see the spaces I wanted to use.
- I was also open to being mediocre, deciding to finish the tasks than to perfect them. As my husband says — better done than perfect. For example, I chose to prepare simple meals.
- Made an honest to-do list of all the tasks that needed my attention.
